HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY~Let us be proud as Ghanaians, and rise to secure our future - Ohene urges

My heart beats with pride to once again see the colors of independence day spreading happiness and great Joy all around. The pride of being a citizen of this great Nation, Ghana, the land of peace and love.
Our forefathers indeed deserve honor for the great work they did and their services rendered to mother Ghana.
I wish to also take this opportunity to congratulate all leaders of this great nation for how far they have brought us.
As we mark our 59th birthday as a country,
let's all not forget to continue to pray for our nation as we journey through another milestone.
The reality remains that, it's not been easy! and there is much more to be done so far us our progress as a country is concerned.
Yes, there exist myriad of problems crippling us as a nation but whatever the case or problem may be, it still remains that, Ghana is yours, mine and ours! and we need to be proud as Ghanaians.
The change we all desire, the progress and growth all lie with each one of us as citizens, and it is only left with us to make that inner force within us materialize! I put it therefore to every Ghanaian on this day, to rise above all odds to effect the change that we all crave for in our small ways.
I believe with each individual's effort, we as a nation will make a headway! If the change we desire is to see Ghana free of plastic waste, let us start the advocacy now!!
If ours is to see the nation go "GREEN" then we've got to initiate that now as well!
The popular saying justifies it that, "little drops of water...Make a mighty ocean". Let's therefore join hands to effect some change now!
Beyond the above, leadership importantly has a very indispensable role to play so far us our development is concerned, but we, are the makers of leaders, and we have that responsibility to ensure that we only make leaders with vision and with this nation at heart; leaders who are zealous for nothing but the progress of this nation.
I will in this vein urge us all to be circumspect especially as we prepare to enter the polls come November 7th. Let's not fall for any forms of lies or whatsoever, let's be careful of deceptions and let's earnestly rise and once again secure our future and that of posterity.
Let's all contribute towards ensuring peace in this country at all cost! and I so believe that the Almighty God shall continually keep Ghana safe and peaceful.
Ghana is you!
Ghana is I!
Ghana is us!
We are one nation

We are one people
God bless Ghana
